World Environment Day in ABC High School

June 6, 2021: The World Environment Day was held in the school playground on June 6, 2021 at 12 Noon onwards. It was organized by the members of the school staff and the students. A team of students pertomed the opening song. Then, Sri Samir Dutta, the Headmaster, gave the welcome address. He also spoke on the need to preserve our environment and our duties in this regard. He invited Sri Uday Basu, an environmentalist, to grace the occasion as Chief Guest. Sri Uday Basu was greeted with fowers by a girl student of class five. He spoke at length on the need to preserve the green. Global warming, he said, is a serious problem now. The only solution is to arrest pollution and plant as many trees as  possible. The trees inject more oxygen, hold the soil and help in rainfall. Thereafter, the Headmaster and Sri Uday Bose planted two saplings in a corner of the playground. A number of students then came forward.  They dug the soil, planted saplings and watered them. Moreover they promised to take care of the saplings everyday during the tiffin break. After the planting ceremony, a dance was pertormed by the students of class XI. After the cultural show, Si Amlan Karar, the Assistant Headmaster delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was over at 4 pm.
